Senior Portrait 4-1-1

Here's all the questions you need to ask and don't know about (or maybe you do and just forgot).

My school has a contract with another studio for senior pictures.  Do I have to get my senior portraits from them?

NO!  You do have to go to the contract photographer for your YEARBOOK photo, but you can choose any studio you want for the SENIOR PORTRAITS you'll want to share with your friends and family--and we hope you choose US!  If your school doesn't have a contract photographer, we're happy to create your yearbook portrait, too.  Just bring us the requirements and your yearbook advisor's name, and we'll send your portrait directly to them at no extra charge.

Am I going to have to spend a lot of money to get cool portraits from you?

No!  We won't mind if you do, but we have packages that start as low as $195 for your session and prints from multiple poses.  It's just not our fault if you look so great that you have to have them all.  There are also no hidden charges at Marie Leslie Photography.  We include a yearbook photo (sent directly to your yearbook advisor) at no extra charge AND we retouch EVERY portrait at no additional charge.  We can create portraits for you in our residential studio, or on location at the indoor or outdoor location of your choice.

What should I include in my senior portraits?

Everything that's all about you!  At Marie Leslie Photography, there's almost no limit to what you can bring.  Letter jackets, sports gear, band gear, music stuff, art stuff, hobbies, pets, little brothers, cars, etc.  If you need some ideas, check out our galleries and see what we've done for other seniors.  There are a few limits to what will fit in our studio (cars and horses are just too big to fit through the door) but we can set up a location session to photograph you with anything that won't fit.  We'll even come to the pool or the football field if you want portraits there.  If you plan to be photographed with a pet, please let us know ahead of time.

What should I wear for my portrait session?

We recommend one traditional conservative outfit, either for your yearbook photo or to make your parents happy (after all, they're probably footing the bill for this).  After that, just about anything goes.  Solid colors usually photograph best.  Stripes, plaids and patterns can draw attention to your clothes and away from you.  V-necks and longer sleeves usually make you look thinner, and it's really important to wear clothes that fit properly.  Stuff that's really baggy or really tight isn't very flattering in a portrait and we want you to look great!!  Beyond that, just about anything goes:  prom dresses, football pads, boxing gloves, bathing suits, tuxedoes, band uniforms--you get the idea.

I don't want portraits that look like everyone else's.  Do you have anything different?

You bet!  We've added several custom new backgrounds for the class of 2009.  These are one of a kind, made just for us.  We also have some cool new products like zed cards, mini zeds and art panels.  We can also create your portraits just about anywhere you want to go in the Albuquerque area.  We are available for travel throughout New Mexico, but there may be extra fees for that.  Ask us for details.

We encourage you to bring your stuff to use in your portraits and after we take your portraits, we have some of the coolest print options around.  We can put your portraits on blankets, chocolate!, posters, calendars, composites and tons of other cool things.  We can also create a custom art piece just for you as well as our exclusive Senior Spirit Books--really cool exclusive portrait albums that you can't get anywhere else.

Where Are You?

We're conveniently located in Rio Rancho, just a couple of blocks from the high school.  You can find a map with directions to our residential studio (that's a fancy way of saying we have a studio in our home) right here!

So, what do I do now?

Check our specials page to see what cool things we have going on this month and give us a call at 344-3171 to reserve your portrait session.  There is a session reservation fee due at the time you make your appointment to hold your time.  You can use a credit card or send us a check for that.  Don't wait to call.  AT this time of year we can only photograph you on week days and it only gets busier as the year goes on, so call us now for the best times.
